ABOUT SWIMATHON FOUNDATION

Swimathon Foundation is a registered charity, working with a wide range of partners to promote the health, wellbeing and education of the general public through the provision of swimming campaigns and challenges, which include Swimathon and Marathon Swims.  The Foundation encourages members of the public participating in its campaigns and challenges to raise vital funds to support the activities of the Foundation and of its charity partners, currently Marie Curie and Cancer Research UK.

The Foundation supports when it can smaller organisations that are involved in community swimming projects through a grants scheme, under which the Foundation aims to provide funds for new projects and activities related to the provision of opportunities to swim or to learn to swim. During the Covid pandemic Swimathon Foundation provided Covid relief funds to support such projects and activities.


THE LEGAL BIT

Swimathon Foundation is a company limited by guarantee and a registered charity (registered number 1123870). The Foundation owns the Swimathon, Marathon Swims, Schools Swimathon and Open Water campaigns and challenges and works with specialist delivery partners in their organisation, operation, management and promotion..

The Foundation invites Charities wishing to benefit from an association with its Swimathon campaigns and challenges to bid for selection through a competitive selection process. The current charity beneficiaries are Cancer Research UK and Marie Curie who, together with Swimathon Foundation , will be the official charity partners of Swimathon until 2027. The current beneficiary of Marathon Swims is Alzheimer’s Society which will be the official charity partner until 2025.
