SWIMATHON FOUNDATION GRANTS FUNDING TO EAST LOTHIAN CLUB

A swimming club in Tranent has received much needed support from the Swimathon Foundation.

Tranent Amateur Swimming Club applied for the grant as part of Swimathon Foundation’s Covid-19 Relief Fund announced last month, to cover lost income during the coronavirus pandemic.

The East Lothian club was formed in 1973 and caters for all ages and abilities, with swimmers ranging from club entry level to those competing at British Championships.

With the coronavirus outbreak preventing the use of swimming pools, the club have been holding quizzes and games nights, as well as putting land training sessions out via social media to ensure their members can remain active outside of the pool.

Lyn Taylor from Tranent Amateur Swimming Club said:

"Due to Covid-19 our fundraising has sadly had to be paused as lots of our events are at galas and supermarkets so the funding from Swimathon has been very welcome. It will kick start the funds for the next season when hopefully we will be back in the pool. On behalf of all our members TASC would like to say a big thank you to Swimathon for this grant."
