Get set to swim your best again in 2019!
The Swimathon Foundation is once again joining forces with Swim England to bring back the school swimming programme to help all children swim their best. Returning after the success of the past six years, this programme helps raise the profile of curriculum swimming as well as supporting Swim England's vision to increase participation and to have every child learn to swim before they leave primary school.
Here’s how School Swimathon helped pupils in 2018:
- 72% of children who took part in the programme improved their distance over the course of the spring term
- 75% of children swam 25m or further in their final challenge session, a huge improvement from the 51% who did so in their initial session
Taking place throughout the 2019 Spring Term, pupils take on an initial challenge in January and then use their weekly national curriculum swim lessons to improve their swim distance. Pupils will then try to swim further than ever before in a final challenge at the end of the Spring Term!
Swim England provide substantial resources and guidance to give your teachers and anyone else involved in school swimming delivery the confidence that they are equipped with the right skills and knowledge.
Join with other schools now to raise the quality and impact of school swimming lessons.
