Olympic medallists join Swimathon Ambassadors to launch Swimathon 2018

It’s here! The Swimathon 2018 launch video.

On Saturday 20th January, we took our Swimathon 2018 ambassadors to the London Aquatic Centre for a day filled with filming, fun and plenty of swimming. We were joined by Swimathon President and Olympic gold-medallist Duncan Goodhew and double world champion Kerry-Anne Payne as they shared their expert knowledge on all things swimming to help our ambassadors start their Swimathon journey.

In line with our campaign mantra #SwimForAll, our ambassadors have a range of swimming experience to inspire you to get involved no matter your ability. We’ll be following the journey of our ambassadors over the next few months and will be sharing their stories with you to motivate you to achieve something you can be really proud of.

Looking for some inspiration now? Let’s introduce you to one ambassador, Wanda. Wanda is a success story from the Sport England’s ‘This Girl Can’ Campaign and was empowered to get back into swimming when her physiotherapist suggested that she take it up after a serious back injury. 2018 will be her third year taking part in Swimathon and to celebrate she will take part in 3 swims over the event weekend, 1.5km on Friday, 2.5km on Saturday and 400m on Sunday.

Wanda hopes her story will help to change the perceptions many women have about swimming and inspire others to take the plunge and visit their local pool.
