Following last week’s decision to postpone Swimathon 2020, we wanted to provide our swimming community with some news about our plans to reschedule the event later in the year.
We are pleased to announce that we now plan to stage Swimathon 2020 on 16-18 October 2020!
As we all mark these new dates in our diary and start to think about a more autumnal swimming vibe, there are a number of things that we would ask you please to take into consideration.
Booking Swimathon Sessions
It is an extremely difficult time for swimming pools nationwide, with pools unable to operate and their operators and staff unable to provide swimming services and facilities. Swimathon pools, operators and their staff across the UK have our full support and now is not the time for us to be trying to book in rescheduled dates and times for Swimathon sessions on 16-18 October. We will instead be keeping in very close contact with our host pools and we will release the new session details as and when it is appropriate and possible to do so. Please note that this is unlikely to happen for a few months.
All registered Swimathon swimmers will be automatically transferred over to an equivalent session time at the same venue, where that remains possible, but you will be able to move to a different session if it is not convenient and there is availability. Further details will be announced in due course. Please be aware that some pools may not be able to deliver equivalent sessions at a different time of year and it may be that some pools wish to stage their sessions on a different weekend or date in October.
If you would like to move your entry over to a MySwimathon challenge (where individuals or teams can take on their challenge at a pool and time of their choice and not as part of the newly scheduled Swimathon 2020 event weekend) then you can do this through your log in area at any time until the end of October.
Follow Official guidance
We must recommend that in deciding whether to take part in the rescheduled Swimathon weekend and/or to take on a MySwimathon challenge you closely follow UK Government and Public Health Authority advice on coronavirus.
We continue to be in awe of the fantastic fundraising efforts of our swimmers and we hope to be able to see all of your incredible achievements take place across the UK on our new date!
As always, we wish all of you the very best of health.
