WELSH SWIMMING SCHOOL RECEIVES FUNDING FROM THE SWIMATHON FOUNDATION

A swimming school in Swansea will receive vital funding from the Swimathon Foundation.

SwimFinity Wales applied for the grant as part of Swimathon Foundation’s Covid-19 Relief Fund, announced last month, to sustain the organisation’s finances whilst their pool is closed.

The Felindre-based swim school teach children and adults of all ages and abilities six days a week across Swansea, Neath Port Talbot and the surrounding areas. Prior to the coronavirus outbreak, they were fully booked with a waiting list and the Swimathon Foundation grant will go towards maintaining the swimming pool to ensure lessons are able to restart as soon as possible.

Samantha Manley from SwimFinity said:

“It means a hell of a lot to get this funding, under these circumstances its cost a lot for us to run the pool itself because we cater on a one-to-one basis in a private pool. Without this money we won’t be able to run this pool because there are quite a lot of running costs.”

“We’ve still been staying in touch with a lot of our clients who are children that struggle in group settings. There are lots of children for different reasons that can’t go to group setting so that is really our niche for SwimFinity. We also cater for adults who struggle and want to learn this life skill especially where we live.”
